This pioneering new apparel manufacturing and job training facility in Burlington, VT is unlike any other space in our region. An innovative manufacturer with production, education, and sales needs that sit on the leading edge of manufacturing and industrial facility design. The greatest challenge was found in the project requirements: to build out a space with highly specialized imported equipment, a unique product flow, expectations of the highest quality working environment conditions, and true flexibility for future manufacturing floor adaptations. As the business launched, the design and details continuously evolved, and it was a program that did not have the benefit of any others having built this type of unique facility before.
NCC’s solution to navigating this fluid process was to become as well-versed in Fourbital’s emerging business and manufacturing systems as possible. This included developing a deep understanding of the technical aspects of equipment functionality and requirements, as well as understanding the overarching goals of the business owners. The community outreach, job training, and sustainability aspects of the project were equally important to NCC as we provided cost, schedule, and constructability insight.
