Project Overview:
Rehabilitation and addition to create common space and new service-supported apartments for Champlain Housing Trust.
This project involves the comprehensive rehabilitation of a 4,390 sf historic building and the construction of a 6,900 sf addition to create specialized service-supported housing. Designed specifically for residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the completed facility will offer ten individual apartments (two 2-bedroom and eight 1-bedroom units) alongside two caregiver suites.
Beyond providing residential units, the design emphasizes communal living with a community kitchen, lounge, office space and an outdoor patio. The project will follow the Efficiency Vermont High Performance track for insulation and air sealing will ensure comfort and energy efficiency, while life safety and accessibility improvements will provide safe and universal access.
Construction is underway with anticipated completion in January 2027.
